
Leona Louise (born on April 3, 1986) is an British performer, actress, activist, and actor. Born and raised within the London Borough Of Islington she went to the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, Croydon. Lewis gained national attention in the final season of The X Factor in 2006 she was awarded the PS1 million recording deal for Syco Music. The winning single in the contest, which was a cover Kelly Clarkson's hit song "A Moment Like This" that was released, received 50,000 downloads in 30 minutes and was ranked at the top of the charts for about four weeks. In February 2007, Lewis was signed to a contract for five albums in the United States with Clive Davis's record label J Records. Her success continued after she dropped her debut album Spirit (2007). The album is certified platinum within the UK and became the fourth most-sold album in 2000s. Spirit was, according to Official Charts Company is the record-breaking debut album of the 21st century by a female musician. The first single, "Bleeding Love", had a run of seven weeks at the top of the charts at 1 in the UK and was the highest-priced single of the year. It also was the top-selling single in the US in the year. Lewis won the Billboard Best New Artist Award the subsequent year. Echo is her second studio album. Lewis also composed the track "I See You" for Avatar. Lewis was also the first to release "Collide," a joint collaboration in collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii. In 2011 , she also released Hurt which was the extended version of her debut EP. The third album she released, Glassheart (2012), brought a brand new direction to her music for Lewis who draws inspiration from dubstep and electronic music. She began to record material for her debut Christmas album during her Glassheart Tour, which took between mid-2013. Christmas with Love was released later that year. The album's first single, "One More Sleep", peaked at number three on the charts in the UK. Lewis is one of the few British solo female artist made history by becoming the first female artist to reach the Top Five with eight singles. This is more than Olivia Newton John's record which was seven.
